Hotel Pelita is commited to hiring locals and caring for their well-being. Mr. Iwo, the owner of Hotel Pelita, is a native of Flores Island of Chinese descent. He is extremely concerned with the high level of unemployment in the area.

Prior to his work at the Pelita Mr. Iwo acted as a ground handling agent for local airlines and worked tirelessly to provide jobs to other island residents. This effort was short-lived as the aircraft ran over its Flying Hour Limit. Mr. Iwo then built Hotel Pelita, starting out with only 5 rooms. He has gradually added more rooms to the property and he remains resolute in providing jobs and training to the local people.
